Tourism industry in the capital region

With its central location in Europe, the city offers companies in the tourism industry outstanding potential for development.

Over twelve million visitors from all over the world came to the German capital in 2023 and booked around 30 million overnight stays. This clearly shows: Travel is back in Berlin! The proportion of international overnight stays exceeded 40 percent for the first time since 2019.

The German capital is one of the top city destinations in the world: The international Time Out magazine voted Berlin third in its “Best cities in the world 2024” ranking after New York and Cape Town. In the European city trip study 2023/2024 by Project M, which compares 170 city travel destinations in Europe, Berlin takes first place ahead of Paris.
