Spandau
General information and locational advantages
Spandau, the westernmost district of Berlin, covers an area of 9,188 hectares. With a population of over 257,000, it is roughly comparable to large cities such as Chemnitz or Aachen.
The economic structure in Spandau is diverse. In addition to global companies such as Siemens and BMW-Motorrad, many innovative SMEs and craft businesses have also settled here. The district also attracts young, creative companies.
An exciting change can be observed in some commercial areas: From traditional industrial areas to contemporary, innovative locations. One example of this is the Siemens site on which the sustainable new urban district “Siemensstadt Square” is being built. There is space for business, research, learning and living there.
Spandau is not only impressive economically, but also scenically. As one of Berlin’s districts with the most water and forests, it offers a wide range of living and recreational opportunities. Whether by the water or in the countryside – Spandau has something to offer everyone.
